Summary of Walt Disney

They was founded in 1923 and have bought lots of companies that are very well known- Marvel, Pixar, Touchstone, Walt Disney studios. When filming the Jungle Book they use different companies all around the world for example the Moving Picture Company (MPC) which is based in London. Walt Disney is the largest film company. There are 'the big 6' companies that have all the power and resources that many small companies do not have. 'The big 6' are 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Warder bros, paramount, Universal and Walt Disney.  The production of Jungle Book was all green screen and CGI, the actor had to talk to walls or inanimate objects which is a hard skill to do. With extremely high budgets for example $175,000,000, the companies such as Disney spend a lot of money to make the films realistic.  The Jungle Book was filmed using 'pre-visualisation' in a LA warehouse, everything was planned out before they even started filming. All of the sets and animal...

Media Industries: The Jungle Book

Plot synopsis The panther Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley) opens the film by saying that there are many stories in the jungle, but none quite like that of the man-cub Mowgli (Neel Sethi). Mowgli is seen running through the jungle above the trees with his wolf brothers. Since he was a baby, Mowgli has grown up with the wolf pack, raised by Raksha (voice of Lupita Nyong'o). The jungle experiences a very dry season, so the animals come together by the Peace Rock to form a truce and drink water from there. Mowgli uses the shell of a fruit to grab water for himself, which makes the other animals see him oddly. The wolf pack leader Akela (voice of Giancarlo Esposito) tells Mowgli not to use his man tricks in front of the other animals. The crows then begin to caw, signaling the arrival of the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba). He is aware of Mowgli's presence, and he considers man to be forbidden in the jungle. Akela covers Mowgli and tells Shere Khan he...

Media Language

What is media language? How the media through their forms, codes, techniques and connotations communicate meaning. What is media representation? How media portrays events, issues, individuals and social groups Discuss the use of media language in creating narrative composition- antagonists in the centre of the poster and the protagonists on the periphery  How has media representation changed Racism in the 1960 film has primarily white actors and one black actor and the 2016 version has a range of actors of all ethnicity.

Media Language in the Jungle Book

Media Language in the Jungle Book In the 2016 trailer of the Jungle Book has been created using computers and CGI as well as special effects making it look verisimilitude . The animals and background images have been made to look incredibly realistic, this then attracts attention to how the movie looks so real when really it’s a movie containing talking animals. In comparison the 1967 version of the Jungle Book has been made as a cartoon with no special computers or technology, the backgrounds are watercolour and the animals are simple animations. This doesn’t make the movie realistic and is more attractive to the younger audience. Dramatic non-diegetic music has been used throughout the trailer to give the audience a small hint that the movie is going to be really dramatic and have lots of twists and turns. Then there is the diegetic sound of Scarlet Johansson talking as the snake, which is calm and juxtaposes the dramatic movie but then towards the end of the movie you act...

Downton Abbey analysis

At 0:47 the contrast in costumes shows the difference between the rich and the poor. The rich people are wearing expensive, traditionally high class outfits (suits) and the lower class are wearing work outfits for example the servants (aprons and hats) and the paper boy. This shows a direct contrast between the two classes.  There is high key lighting in the upper class peoples section of the house showing that they are more powerful because they are in a brightly lit area. Low key lighting is used in the areas of the house such as the kitchen where the servants work and live because traditionally they would be in the bottom floor of the house.  At 0:49, the man looks down on the paper boy as he is late and snatches the paper from him.  At 1:09 there is a close up shot of the man reading the newspaper and you can see the facial expression but there is no clue on what he is reading.  At 1:17 you can see the class difference as the lower class workers have to i...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGbxmsDFVnE - From 10 seconds to 55 seconds there is non diegetic sound for example sound effects used to dramatise and narration of the characters. - From 50 seconds to 1 min there is diegetic sound as the antagonist is talking directly to the camera in a deep manly voice.  - From 1:10 to 1:15 there is non diegetic sounds of sound effects  - At 1:15 to 1:29 there is diegetic sound of the man talking to two other characters.  - At 1:36 there is bright visual effects of an explosion. - Music has been playing in the background through out the entire trailer, using familiar music that is known to be Star Wars, this means more people will recognise the trailer if they see it and potentially could understand it more. The music suddenly just stops at the end of the trailer (around 2 mins) leaving a cliff hanger as you could thank that someone maybe died or the battle was over but you don't know who won.  ...

How do the key-elements used convey meaning in the main poster? Mise en scene is used in all different ways on the main poster. The main components of mine en scene that have been used are lighting,  composition, sets , props, actors, and costumes. H igh key lighting gives a friendly atmosphere at the centre of the poster and upwards. Low key lighting on the  peripheral of the poster where two characters are which can demonstrate that the characters in the dark areas are the more mysterious and dangerous characters .  The lighting is creating an atmosphere of the movie being a happy and friendly movie but has elements of danger and mystery as there is some low key lighting used. The centre composition of the main protagonist characters and the characters towards the periphery of the poster are the bad antagonistic characters lurking in the dark. Lighting - high key lighting gives a friendly atmosphere near most of the characters. Low key lighting near the one character shows that he may be the bad one. The lighting is creating an atmosphere of the movie being a happy and friendly movie but has elements of anger as there is some low key lighting used.  Composition - The centre of the composition is the main protagonist characters and the characters towards the end of the composition and the periphery of the poster are the bad antagonistic characters lurking in the dark.  Sets- Nature full which shows that it could be a film about a jungle and the outside. The set looks verisimilitude (authentic) to what the movie is actually going to be about.  Text- Uses serif style font which could show that the movie is carefree and authentic (rock style) to the movie as it is about the jungle. The use of saturated colour in the title (yellow) shows that the movie could...
