How do the key-elements used convey meaning in the main poster?
Mise en scene is used in all different ways on the main poster. The main components of mine en scene that have been used are lighting, composition, sets, props, actors, and costumes. High key lighting gives a friendly atmosphere at the centre of the poster and upwards. Low key lighting on the peripheral of the poster where two characters are which can demonstrate that the characters in the dark areas are the more mysterious and dangerous characters.
The lighting is creating an atmosphere of the movie being a happy and friendly movie but has elements of danger and mystery as there is some low key lighting used. The centre composition of the main protagonist characters and the characters towards the periphery of the poster are the bad antagonistic characters lurking in the dark. The set is full of nature which shows that it could be a film about a jungle and the outside environment and world.
The set looks verisimilitude (authentic) to what the movie is actually going to be about. The main title uses serif style font which could show that the movie is carefree and authentic (rocks and greenery style) to the movie as it is about the jungle. The use of saturated colour in the title (yellow) shows that the movie could be happy and full of imagination. Anchorage is used because 'the jungle book' and the set is linked; the trees and the animals are what most people would think of when you see and read about the jungle. The yellow text could show what the main text is and the main important information they want the audience to see and the green text could be the less important text as it blends into the background and theme of the film. The text is all centred which means you can easily see the image behind the text, allowing the audiences to still see the image and gain a perception of what the movie is about. The props that are used are trees and props that would generally be found in the jungle. This adds an authentic touch (verisimilitude) to the poster as it demonstrates what the movie is about.
The only costume you can see in the poster is what the boy is wearing, he is wearing only one small article of clothing. The fact he is only wearing one thing could show that he is not like most humans and has been abandoned and disconnected from civilisation.
Barthes semantic code connotations are used for example the snake. Snakes typically represent as not being truthful and going against what they initially say, this symbolises that there is someone in the movie that appears to be on one side possibly the protagonist side but actually is on the antagonist side. The jungle symbolises wildness and freedom. The lighting symbolises the good characters from the bad characters by using high key lighting for the good characters and low-key lighting for the bad characters also there is mystery or danger in the low key lighting.
To what extent is the main poster influenced by the historic texts within the presentation?
One the most historic elements seen in the poster is the boy only wearing one article of clothing which isn't something that would happen in the 21st century and also the building in the background looks like something that would have originally been seen in the 20th century when the Jungle Book was originally written. Traditionally snakes have been seen as something sly and the poster has been influenced by this by positioning the snake in the tree surrounded by high key and low key lighting; watching every animal and person.
Discuss the impact of Photoshop and computer generated images on the 2016 narrative of Jungle book.
Photoshop and computer generated images have been used to generate realistic images and video clips of animals in the jungle. The increased realisticness that has been used allows the audience to think that the movie has some authenticity which could make them want to watch the movie more. Another impact it has on the movie is that it is modern, unlike the original movie which was a cartoon and created in 1967. The more modern approach reaches out to the younger generation as the children from the 21st century are more modern.

good extensive analysis here, well done. I think you should say more about the written text linked to the cast of actors used and why this is prominently located within the advert. Also you should comment on how the use of lighting/mise ensconce with regards to the location, type of colours used and amount of light links got the nature of the characters within the advert. Finally the body language and connotations associated with (some of) the animals could be explored in more detail... overall well done!
