Compare How Radio 1’s BBS production content is different to commercial radio

Radio X’s main host is Chris Moyles; he is 43 years old and a former Radio 1 host. He got fired after nearly 10 years working there and then took a 4 year break to then return to radio as the Radio X host. Radio 1’s main host is Nick Grimshaw; he is 33 years old, has been the host since 2012, is openly gay and excited.

The production content in Radio X and radio 1 are very different. Radio X plays songs by artists such as The Foo Fighters and Royal blood who are both rock bands. Radio 1 play songs by British artists such as Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith, who are pop artists. They are both geared towards different audiences because Radio X has a 25-44 aged male audience and are sponsored by a beer company. They have guests such as Russell Brand who is seen as a controversial person and the hosts talk about provocative subjects such as women in a sexual way. Radio 1 is geared towards 15 to 29 year olds and has guests such as Demi Lovato. They talk about celebrities and popular things on TV and issues that teens can relate to such as depression. The hosts don’t have any bad language and are always cheery and upbeat.

Radio X is dependent on advertisement revenue because it is commercial broadcasting and doesn’t have any support from the government. It gets its funding’s from privately owned corporate media unlike Radio 1, which is a public service broadcasting and gets government funding.

Radio X has sponsors such as Gillette, which is a brand for facial shaving; this suits the gears because it is targeted at males, which is the same as the show. The adverts are all targeted at the gears audience because they are all older male related brands.

Due to Radio 1 being public service broadcasting it is reduced in the opportunities they can have and what they can talk about and do. They have to stick to their remit to inform, educate and entertain. If any new ideas don’t correlate with their remit the government wont fund it. For example when they had Demi Lovato on the show they used all three parts if the remit. Inform is about her new movie she has coming out all about her struggles, the educate is about how she overcame her mental health and drug issues and they are entertained because she has to try and remember and sing her old songs from when she was a part of Disney.

Media Language in the Jungle Book

Media Language in the Jungle Book In the 2016 trailer of the Jungle Book has been created using computers and CGI as well as special effects making it look verisimilitude . The animals and background images have been made to look incredibly realistic, this then attracts attention to how the movie looks so real when really it’s a movie containing talking animals. In comparison the 1967 version of the Jungle Book has been made as a cartoon with no special computers or technology, the backgrounds are watercolour and the animals are simple animations. This doesn’t make the movie realistic and is more attractive to the younger audience. Dramatic non-diegetic music has been used throughout the trailer to give the audience a small hint that the movie is going to be really dramatic and have lots of twists and turns. Then there is the diegetic sound of Scarlet Johansson talking as the snake, which is calm and juxtaposes the dramatic movie but then towards the end of the movie you act...

Downton Abbey analysis

At 0:47 the contrast in costumes shows the difference between the rich and the poor. The rich people are wearing expensive, traditionally high class outfits (suits) and the lower class are wearing work outfits for example the servants (aprons and hats) and the paper boy. This shows a direct contrast between the two classes.  There is high key lighting in the upper class peoples section of the house showing that they are more powerful because they are in a brightly lit area. Low key lighting is used in the areas of the house such as the kitchen where the servants work and live because traditionally they would be in the bottom floor of the house.  At 0:49, the man looks down on the paper boy as he is late and snatches the paper from him.  At 1:09 there is a close up shot of the man reading the newspaper and you can see the facial expression but there is no clue on what he is reading.  At 1:17 you can see the class difference as the lower class workers have to i...
