Minecraft Style- Marketing

This video can be used as a platform to market the video game because it makes people who haven't played the game want to play the game. Youtube has a very big audience of all different ages. By doing this they can reach a new audience as youtube has got a wide demographic that has some of the same as mine crafts demographic. Mine craft inspired videos gained significant popularity on YouTube generating viral hype and walkability. Lego and mine craft created a joint product as they both have the sandbox style game. creating general hype for mine craft and lego at the same time. The words ‘create’ and ‘imagination’ were used in the marketing of the game and as such, have been used in education in the past two years to help with building and construction and arts based courses.

- Minecraft is the second most successful video game of all time behind Tetris
To date, well over 121 million copies have been sold across all platforms, including over 27 million PC copies, making it the biggest selling PC game of all time.
The success of the games market.
The UK’s   US$4 billion;
– China,   US$24.4 billion
– America’s   US$23.6 billion.
- A recent report by the UKIE1 suggests that the global games market is now worth in excess of US$100 billion.
- In comparison to traditional media like film, radio, print and television, video games are much younger, exponentially growing since the 1970s.
by January 2011, the beta-version of the game had passed over one million purchases in just only a month, and by April 2011 Persson estimated that US$33 million of revenue had been made.
- The words ‘create’ and ‘imagination’ were used in the marketing of the game and as such, have been used in education in the past two years to help with building and construction and arts based courses.

- Starting people off early can make them want to learn to code ands decode professionally. They play the game, buy the game, tell a friend and then they go and buy an play the game.
- In November 2011, prior to the game’s official release, Minecraft had over 16 million registered users and 4 million purchases.
-  Minecraft was released across multiple platforms becoming a commercially viable franchise with increased interactivity.
-  Minecraft: Pocket Edition was released on Sony Xperia Play, available on Sony Xperia smartphones. Minecraft also become available on Android and iOS devices shortly after.

Minecraft started in 2009 when Swedish game developer Markus “Notch” Persson started working on an experimental sandbox game where players could build and navigate a world of textured cubes
- Notch credits other indie games like Zachary Barth’s Infiniminer for this idea.
- 2010 Minecraft was developed as a multiplayer game using JAVA code.
Gamers were able to contribute to the development of the program eliminating bugs and facilitating multiplayer capability
- In September of 2013, Microsoft bought all rights to Minecraft from Mojang for $2.5 billion dollars.
2017 Microsoft ownership develops the cross platform capability of Minecraft which is now available on C gamers but those who own smartphones, Microsoft consoles (Xbox); Playstation 3, 4 and PS Vita; and more recently Nintendo consoles (Wii U) and hand-held devices (Nintendo Switch and Nintendo New 3DS, New 2DS XL and New 3DS XL).
- This opens up the market for the game (potentially ncreasing profits)
- Newer games e.g. for smart phones were programmed in C++ (which limit the Minecraft community from modifying the code)
Newer games such as cross platform play are more complex and refined in their graphic content.
- Minecraft: Story Mode, follow more of the recognisable institutional conventions of game development including tutorials on how to play the game
2015 – 2017  Microsoft offers
- Minecraft: Story Mode is an episodic point-and-click graphic adventure video game

It was originally created in 2009 and released in November 2011 by Markus Persson. Microsoft then bought it for $2.5 billion. The gamers were able to contribute their ideas into how the game could be improved and developed. it is developing because it became available to more platforms such as iPhone, Sony, XBOX, Playstation's and more meaning that people won't have to go out and buy a whole new system in order to play the game. Also more games similar were created such as the story mode version of minecraft. The quality of what actually happens in the age  sound and visual quality and playing quality have all been improved. Disadvantages are that with the new games it has become more complex and harder to code. The game is more multi national and less collaborative for the earlier people.

Minecraft is developing because it is merging with other companies to make games such as lego. Minecraft has more connections to different companies and programmers to develop the game. The principles are different to the original games principles because of how many different versions there now are. Developed to be on different platforms such as xbox and smartphones, widening the market and chance of profit.

Media Language in the Jungle Book

Media Language in the Jungle Book In the 2016 trailer of the Jungle Book has been created using computers and CGI as well as special effects making it look verisimilitude . The animals and background images have been made to look incredibly realistic, this then attracts attention to how the movie looks so real when really it’s a movie containing talking animals. In comparison the 1967 version of the Jungle Book has been made as a cartoon with no special computers or technology, the backgrounds are watercolour and the animals are simple animations. This doesn’t make the movie realistic and is more attractive to the younger audience. Dramatic non-diegetic music has been used throughout the trailer to give the audience a small hint that the movie is going to be really dramatic and have lots of twists and turns. Then there is the diegetic sound of Scarlet Johansson talking as the snake, which is calm and juxtaposes the dramatic movie but then towards the end of the movie you act...

Downton Abbey analysis

At 0:47 the contrast in costumes shows the difference between the rich and the poor. The rich people are wearing expensive, traditionally high class outfits (suits) and the lower class are wearing work outfits for example the servants (aprons and hats) and the paper boy. This shows a direct contrast between the two classes.  There is high key lighting in the upper class peoples section of the house showing that they are more powerful because they are in a brightly lit area. Low key lighting is used in the areas of the house such as the kitchen where the servants work and live because traditionally they would be in the bottom floor of the house.  At 0:49, the man looks down on the paper boy as he is late and snatches the paper from him.  At 1:09 there is a close up shot of the man reading the newspaper and you can see the facial expression but there is no clue on what he is reading.  At 1:17 you can see the class difference as the lower class workers have to i...
