How media producers target, attract, reach, address and potentially construct audiences.
Minecraft as a game /brand has been developed.
The existing game has been upgraded and is increasingly becoming more sophisticated (Graphically and contains new features).
Open world game play.
Minecraft Realms was launched to attract and encourage audiences to use the game on dedicated servers and increase subscription revenues.
Minecraft StoryMode . targets a newer audiences with New stories.

IT IS A CROSS PLATFORM GAME
The variety of different modes is certainly a contributing factor to the game’s success,
E.G. A PC user can game online with an IOS (Mac) or a PlayStation/X box user.
IT IS A CREATIVE SANDBOX GAME audiences can control and shape their own worlds and create new identities through mods and altering textures, maps and craft kits.

Mojang
Initially there was little work to advertise the original version of Minecraft; it was simply word of mouth across forums that created a buzz about the game.
Microsoft
Now that Minecraft is established and owned by a division of a conglomerate, the methods used to distribute and market the game are similar to popular mainstream releases.

Task: Identify the approaches taken BY Microsoft to market the game.
- They have a musical
- Youtubers play the game
- Through education they appeal to teachers and schools and can improve their mathematics, teamwork, creativity and imagination.
- Colaberated with lego- appeals to the large audience of lego.
Microsoft advertising it’s cross platform version of Minecraft using YouTube-

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT ? The biggest discussion point for Minecraft should be ‘which platform do I play?’
in July 2017 a ‘cross-play’ feature was developed, meaning there was less emphasis on showing brand loyalty to either console.
There is evidence to suggest that mobile and hand-held devices are really driving the sales of Minecraft forward. For example, the release of the PlayStation Vita version of Minecraft boosted sales of Minecraft by 79%, outselling PS3 and PS4 releases and making it the largest launch
on a
PlayStation console. The appeal is being fuelled by a new generation of gamers who prefer hand-held devices over traditional consoles.

They can go on the mine craft market place which is the store and buy new things for the game with mine craft coins https://minecraft.net/en-us/marketplace/.

Media Language in the Jungle Book

Media Language in the Jungle Book In the 2016 trailer of the Jungle Book has been created using computers and CGI as well as special effects making it look verisimilitude . The animals and background images have been made to look incredibly realistic, this then attracts attention to how the movie looks so real when really it’s a movie containing talking animals. In comparison the 1967 version of the Jungle Book has been made as a cartoon with no special computers or technology, the backgrounds are watercolour and the animals are simple animations. This doesn’t make the movie realistic and is more attractive to the younger audience. Dramatic non-diegetic music has been used throughout the trailer to give the audience a small hint that the movie is going to be really dramatic and have lots of twists and turns. Then there is the diegetic sound of Scarlet Johansson talking as the snake, which is calm and juxtaposes the dramatic movie but then towards the end of the movie you act...

Downton Abbey analysis

At 0:47 the contrast in costumes shows the difference between the rich and the poor. The rich people are wearing expensive, traditionally high class outfits (suits) and the lower class are wearing work outfits for example the servants (aprons and hats) and the paper boy. This shows a direct contrast between the two classes.  There is high key lighting in the upper class peoples section of the house showing that they are more powerful because they are in a brightly lit area. Low key lighting is used in the areas of the house such as the kitchen where the servants work and live because traditionally they would be in the bottom floor of the house.  At 0:49, the man looks down on the paper boy as he is late and snatches the paper from him.  At 1:09 there is a close up shot of the man reading the newspaper and you can see the facial expression but there is no clue on what he is reading.  At 1:17 you can see the class difference as the lower class workers have to i...
